Base pay range

CA$57.32/hr - CA$70.64/hr

The Psychologist will be responsible for providing psychological services to patients within the Acute Mental Health and Addictions division. This position will provide assessment and treatment to adults with a variety of emotional, mental health, and cognitive difficulties. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive psychological assessments, offering individual and group therapy, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. The Psychologist will participate in case conferences, consultations, and observations across various settings, reporting to the Director of Acute & Complex Care at Hillsborough Hospital.

Key duties include:

  • Conducting assessments to assist in treatment planning and providing mental health treatments.
  • Interpreting and supporting treatment recommendations.
  • Applying principles of prevention, case management, and various therapy modes (e.g., cognitive, behavioral, family, group).
  • Collaborating with clients and teams to identify treatment goals.
  • Using professional judgment to analyze problems, set goals, and adjust interventions.
  • Providing therapy to high-risk clients and their families, including training other care team members.
  • Leading and monitoring group programs, ensuring safety and productivity.
  • Maintaining accurate assessment and treatment records, including progress notes and correspondence.
  • Performing other duties as required.

Minimum qualifications:

  • PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology with substantial experience working with adults in mental health settings.
  • Eligible for registration with PEI's professional association and in good standing; certification in the area of specialization.
  • Ability to administer and interpret psychological assessments and risk evaluations.
  • Experience with addiction issues.
  • Independent judgment, initiative, and adaptability in delivering services.
  • Experience with interdisciplinary teams, program development, and case management.
  • Proficiency in English; French skills are an asset.
  • Knowledge of DSM V, Mental Health Act, and crisis intervention.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle; good attendance record.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills; ability to handle crises and lead teams.
  • Research and program evaluation experience.
  • Willingness to travel to other locations as needed.

Salary Range: $57.32 - $70.64 per hour (Level 20B)

Bi-weekly Hours: 75 hours (Monday – Friday days; evenings and weekends as required)
