The Community Mental Health Program (CMHP) comprises 10 teams across 6 sites throughout the Ontario Health East Region. CMHP offers a range of service models, from intensive to outreach, serving as a link between hospital services and community agencies for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, including those with dual diagnoses living in the community. CMHP emphasizes Recovery-Focused support to enhance meaningful community integration and promote an engaged, fulfilling life.
Duties:
- Conduct cognitive and adaptive functioning assessments to determine eligibility for Dual Diagnosis Services.
- Provide goal-oriented and time-limited therapies.
- Work effectively as part of an interprofessional team.
- Liaise and consult with community agencies and service providers.
- Administer and interpret standardized psychological assessments.
- Participate in academic activities, including supervising pre-doctoral residents, practicum students, and non-registered staff; supervise psychologists in supervised practice; teach interns and residents; and collaborate with other health disciplines.
- Contribute to hospital psychology and quality improvement initiatives, as approved by management.
- Attend discipline meetings and participate in related activities.
- Maintain workload measurement and data collection as required.
- Provide education to stakeholders.
- Coordinate care among internal and external service providers.
- Write comprehensive discharge reports with follow-up recommendations.
- Utilize tele-mental health and other distance technologies to deliver services in remote communities.
- Build effective collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
- Adhere to professional and ethical guidelines, including the Canadian Code of Ethics and College of Psychologists standards.
- Work in compliance with safety policies and promote an environment free of racism, harassment, and discrimination.
- Support dedicated time for research, program evaluation, quality improvement, program development, consultation, and training, aligned with scope of practice and operational feasibility.
Qualifications:
- Doctorate from a CPA/APA-accredited Clinical Psychology Program.
- Registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario; autonomous practice preferred, supervised practice considered. Mandatory practice in Clinical Psychology with adult clients.
- CPA/APA-accredited internship/residency or equivalent in clinical psychology.
- Five years of post-PhD clinical mental health experience is an asset.
- Experience in program development and evaluation is an asset.
- Experience working with individuals with dual diagnoses is an asset.
- Knowledge of Inuit culture and experience working with Indigenous populations is an asset.
- Evidence-based therapeutic orientation (e.g., CBT, DBT, IPT, EFT, MI).
- Experience with behavioral therapy and training.
- Clinical experience in diagnosing and treating intellectual disabilities, anxiety, mood disorders, and substance use disorders using evidence-based approaches.
- Experience working within an interprofessional service delivery model is mandatory.
- Knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation principles and practices.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills; ability to establish and maintain good working relationships.
- Commitment to Continuous Quality Improvement, best practices, and teamwork.
- Experience providing clinical services via virtual platforms.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- Proficiency in English (A-level in all skills); bilingual (French/English) is an asset.
