Kelowna General Hospital in Kelowna, BC, seeks a General Adult Psychiatrist to join a busy psychiatry department delivering comprehensive inpatient and consult liaison services.

The role includes patient assessment and treatment, collaboration with clinicians and managers, and contributing to program development, policies, and procedures. Teaching opportunities with UBC Southern Medical Program are available, with NAVIG8 leadership development as an option.

Qualifications

• Board-certified or eligible General Adult Psychiatrist.
• Experience in inpatient unit and consult liaison services is preferred.
• Teaching opportunities with medical students and residents.

Responsibilities

• Assess and treat patients in the 30-bed inpatient unit and consults to hospital units.
• Collaborate with clinicians and managers on program development and policy implementation.
• Support MHSU clinics and telepsychiatry initiatives.

Role and Facility Information

Fantastic opportunity for a general adult Psychiatrist to join the expanding Psychiatry department at Kelowna General Hospital. Our group of Psychiatrists provides service to KGH’s 30 bed inpatient unit, 6 bed Adult MH Intensive Care Unit, consults to the medical/surgical units and the emergency department, as well as maintain a community based practice. Duties will include, but not be limited to, patient assessment and treatment, collaboration with clinicians and managers, and assistance with the development and maintenance of appropriate programs, policies, and procedures.

This collaborative team treats the serious and persistent mental illness population with intensive case management support. In addition to this, there are multiple opportunities in supporting the Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) clinic or the broader community through telepsychiatry. This role also offers teaching opportunities to medical students and residents as KGH is affiliated with UBC Faculty of Medicine Southern Medical Program.

Compensation

• Compensation Type Combination Estimated Remuneration $250,000 - $400,000, plus MOCAP

Benefits and Incentives

• Relocation Funding Available $Relocation reimbursement up to a maximum of $9,000 for moves within BC, $12,000 for moves within Canada, and $15,000 for those relocating from outside Canada.
