Job description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) - Saskatoon and University of Saskatchewan, Department of Psychiatry, seek a team-oriented psychiatrist to be part of our dynamic and expanding department. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to provide services on a 0.25 full-time equivalent (FTE) up to 1.0 FTE basis and will work in collaboration with allied health care professionals on cases identified by the Referral Management Services (RMS) psychiatry support team.

The Saskatoon area with the SHA has a Psychiatry Residency training program, which is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the growing educational needs of medical students and residents with the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. The successful candidates will provide clinical and academic services as members of the Department of Psychiatry and will hold appointments with both the University of Saskatchewan and the SHA. Appointment with the university will be at the assistant, associate or full professor level.

Call coverage provides for a balanced lifestyle as it is shared with all other psychiatrists in the department and is approximately once monthly.

University of Saskatchewan - The beautiful University of Saskatchewan campus is located on the shores of the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon, a city with a diverse and thriving economic base and a vibrant cultural life. It is a research-intensive institution with 26,000 students and 6,500 faculty and staff, and a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. It is home to the newly constructed Academic Health Science Complex and two of the largest science projects in the country – the Canadian Light Source synchrotron and the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization / International Vaccine . A users group is available for collaborative research with clinical faculty using the $173.5 million Canadian Light Source synchrotron, owned by the University of Saskatchewan. The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training.
