A provincial health review panel is seeking psychiatrist members to join the Mental Health Review Panel Roster. This part-time role involves participating in hearings, contributing to decision-making processes, and supporting mental health rights across Alberta. Ideal candidates will possess experience in board governance and adjudication, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and are willing to travel. Compensation is provided per hearing, with time commitment approximately twelve hours a month.

About the Agency
The Roster is established under the Mental Health Act (Act) and plays an important role in protecting the rights of patients in facilities and individuals subject to community treatment orders.

The Roster has three chairs and three vice-chairs appointed. In addition to the chairs and vice-chairs, the Roster includes psychiatrist and public members. Each hearing panel has three members : one chair / vice- chair, one psychiatrist member and one public member. The Roster maintains a large number of members to schedule hearings.

Remuneration and Time Commitment
Members are appointed by the Minister of Mental Health and Addiction and may be eligible for reappointment to serve a total of 12 consecutive years.
This is not a salaried position. Psychiatrist members receive remuneration in accordance with the Mental Health Review Panel Regulation :
This is a part-time role. Time commitment is approximately twelve hours a month.
