Personal Support Worker / Attendant

Positions Available:

  • Permanent Full-Time Days/Evenings (x1) – 43.5 Hours Bi-Weekly
  • 3-Month Contract Part Time Overnights (x1) – 19 Hours Bi-Weekly
  • Casual Positions Available

Who we are:

ILS is an Ontario Health funded not-for-profit agency providing support and services to adults wishing to live independently in their homes. We assist adults with physical disabilities and seniors aging at home to lead independent, dignified, and productive lives.

What you would be doing:

Reporting to the Supervisor of Client Services, ILS Attendants provide high-quality support services enabling clients to live independently within their community. Under limited supervision, this role involves assisting clients with non-medical activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) as outlined in the client’s individual service plan, under the client’s direction.

Required Qualifications:

  • Personal Support Worker Certification, RN, RPN, DSW or a minimum of 3000 hours demonstrated work experience in community care/long-term care/healthcare setting.
  • Current First Aid and CPR level C Certification, successful Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license for travel to client homes.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of clients and partners.
  • Knowledge of issues concerning physical disabilities and/or age-related conditions.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
  • Client service focus, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management principles and health & safety legislation.
  • Comfort with using related equipment and technology, including smartphones.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect privacy laws.
  • Strong ethical standards and professional boundaries.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform transferring, lifting, bowel and bladder routines, and other attendant care duties (asset).

Total Compensation:

  • Pay: $25.76/hour
  • Benefits: Weekend & Overnight Shift Premiums, Paid Travel Time & Mileage, RRSP match, Paid Vacation & Sick Days, $1,000 Signing Bonus (conditions apply)
