Position Details

Location: Haliburton Highlands Secondary School (Supporting schools within the Haliburton area)

Type: Temporary, Full-Time

Salary: Bachelor’s Degree - $82,294 - $89,751; Master’s Degree - $85,301 - $92,980

Position Summary

This full-time position follows the school year calendar. The Mental Health Counsellor provides counselling and psychosocial support to students, parents, and staff to promote mental health and social-emotional well-being. Responsibilities include evidence-based interventions, risk assessment, community collaboration, professional development, and crisis response.

Responsibilities
  1. Direct Service: Provide age-appropriate interventions, collaborate with school personnel, conduct assessments, support classroom workshops, and respond to critical incidents.
  2. Indirect Service: Support policies, build capacity among educators, and collaborate with community services.
Qualifications
  • 3-year Bachelor Degree in a related field
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with OCSWSSW or another regulatory body
  • 3+ years experience in mental health and addictions
  • Knowledge of social-emotional learning strategies and legislation
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License and own vehicle (travel required)
