Time Commitment: 2 days per week

We are seeking a practicing Specialist Physician leader in Ontario with deep expertise in digital health and system transformation for the position of Provincial Clinical Lead, Central Intake (CI), Patients Before Paperwork.

This position provides provincial clinical leadership to enable the successful implementation and oversight of centralized intake models across Ontario. Working across multiple clinical pathways (e.g., Orthopaedics, Diagnostic Imaging, Cataracts), the Clinical Lead will help align system partners on standardized practices, support regional CI hub development, and ensure implementation aligns with provincial priorities and recommendations from the Provincial CI Expert Panel.

This role is part of Patients Before Paperwork (Pb4P) — a five-year joint initiative by the Ministry of Health and Ontario Health aimed at modernizing Ontario’s health system through secure, integrated digital solutions, with an initial focus on improving the referral experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the Provincial Clinical Lead and Champion for Central Intake implementation in Ontario
• Lead or co-chair provincial committees and working groups supporting CI initiatives
• Provide clinical leadership and alignment across regional CI leads and hub organizations
• Ensure consistent governance and standardized CI workflows across pathways and regions
• Support regional implementation while respecting local needs and variation
• Build consensus among stakeholders on provincial standards for intake and referral protocols
• Provide a strong, informed clinical voice to ensure workflows align with real-world clinical practice
• Guide the development of operational and technical standards and implementation tools
• Collaborate with internal teams across digital health, user experience, change management, and communications to support effective rollouts
• Ensure solutions are equitable, accessible, and grounded in person-centered care principles
• Promote quality improvement and continuous innovation in care coordination

Qualifications:

• A practicing Specialist Physician in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
• Minimum 5 years clinical experience; experience in Radiology or Orthopaedic Surgery preferred
• Demonstrated leadership in health system transformation, CI models, or referral systems
• Strong systems thinking skills and comfort with data-driven decision-making
• Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and negotiation skills across diverse stakeholder groups
• Proven commitment to evidence-based care, equity, and quality improvement
• Practical experience with implementing CI systems in areas such as diagnostic imaging, orthopaedics, cataracts, or low back pain
• Deep knowledge of Ontario’s healthcare ecosystem and key health system partners (e.g., OMA, MOH)
• Strong understanding of digital health tools, EMRs, and referral management systems
