Job Summary: Reporting to the Director, Philanthropy - Advancement, this position plays an important role in meeting the university’s revenue and strategic objectives by providing accurate, current pertinent information and collaborating on prospect identification, clearance and solicitation strategy to develop donor prospect pipelines appropriate to major gift and campaign needs. This role manages a portfolio of online granting foundations and actively seeks new financial support by submitting meaningful and relevant online proposals. The incumbent coordinates and prioritizes requests for research concerning individual, corporate and foundation donors, as well as identify new prospects who are capable of making major gifts and endowed gifts for the university’s big ideas, and ensures consistent standards in written reports and analysis.

Responsibilities/accountabilities:

1. Prospect Research:
  • Conducts biographical and financial research, using a variety of online and offline tools and sources to update and create new profiles that contain the appropriate information used by the team’s fundraisers, leadership and senior volunteers
  • Shares appropriate news and updates database records with relevant news obtained through media monitoring activities
2. Prospect Identification:
  • Identifies sources of major gift private, foundation and corporate support for the university’s campaign and emerging priorities and needs

3. Online Grant Submissions:
  • Manages a portfolio of online granting foundations and secure major gifts ($25K+) by preparing and independently submitting compelling and relevant online foundation proposals

4. Prospect Coordination:
  • Participates in Prospect Coordination processes by managing Tier levels, relationship management assignments, ratings on records and clearance activities

5. Report Management:
  • Prepares research reports tracking progress to enable development officers to manage their portfolios, management to monitor and makes course corrections as required, provide information for Board committees and Board of Governors to track progress against investment

Required Skills:

  • Solid knowledge of best practices in regards to prospect management and guiding a prospect management process
  • Advanced skills in using software and computer programs such as Windows, Microsoft Office and PowerPoint
  • Excellent time management abilities, strong attention to detail and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment

Required Education:

  • Completion of a University Program consisting of Four Academic Years or Equivalent
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this role
