Job summary

BPA in Ottawa is seeking a Proposal Writer to prepare service proposals and marketing documents. You will read RFPs, organize kickoff and follow-up meetings, and coordinate content with senior management to shape the proposal strategy.

You will research, write, and revise project sheets, résumés, and firm profiles while managing timelines for on-time submissions. Strong English, meticulous editing, and layout skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or college degree in a relevant field.
• 3–5 years in proposal writing, bid management, or related field.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
• Strong writing and editing of technical documents.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Autonomous with initiative; team spirit and proactiveness.
• Experience supporting RFP/RFQ submissions is a plus.

Your Responsibilities

The Proposal Writer will be primarily responsible for preparing service proposals and marketing documents. Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

• Reading and understanding RFP (Request for Proposal) documents
• Organizing kickoff and follow-up meetings for the preparation of service proposals
• Collaborating with a member of senior management to establish the proposal strategy (project team, relevant experience, methodology, and other required content)
• Researching, writing, and revising project sheets, résumés, project approach sections, firm profiles, etc.
• Planning and meeting project timelines to ensure on-time submission of proposals
• Performing layout and final assembly, while ensuring the quality of deliverables
• Coordinating the delivery and submission of the proposal document
• Keeping the proposal database up to date at all times

Your Profile

• College or university degree in a relevant field
• Experience in a similar role (consulting engineering, architecture, or construction) is considered an asset
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken
• Strong aptitude for writing and editing technical documents
• Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Word; knowledge of Excel and Adobe InDesign Demonstrates thoroughness, attention to detail, and professionalism
• Excellent priority management, fast execution, and strong organizational skills
• Autonomous with a strong sense of initiative Team spirit and proactive approach
• 3-5 years experience in proposal writing, proposal coordination, bid management, marketing communication, technical writing, or a related field
• Experience supporting RFP, RFQ, and proposal submissions is considered an asset
