The Opportunity: We are seeking a Property Risk Engineer/Consultant to join our team. This role involves providing risk assessments and insurance risk engineering services, serving as a technical expert, and developing content such as white papers, resources, and training materials. The successful candidate will collaborate with underwriting, claims, and risk partners, serve as a company representative at events, and mentor peers or less experienced consultants.

This is an Intermediate/Senior role supporting business development, maintaining high standards of risk services, and managing relationships with broker partners and clients. The role also involves contributing to regional strategies and operational improvements.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote Liberty's Inclusion Guidelines within the organization
  • Manage assigned and prospect accounts in Commercial and Packaged Property lines, including surveys and follow-up actions
  • Analyze data to recommend loss prevention solutions
  • Prepare reports with action plans for risk mitigation
  • Review claims reports and conduct site visits for claims mitigation
  • Perform risk assessments and surveys for clients, including overflow capacity as needed
  • Enhance brand awareness through speaking engagements, networking, and developing industry resources
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and technology to support underwriting decisions
  • Build effective partnerships with clients and stakeholders
  • Assist management in developing policies, procedures, and technical resources
  • Travel 25-50% within Canada and the US

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years (for Engineer/Consultant) or 10+ years (for Senior Engineer/Consultant) in Property Risk Control, Loss Prevention, or Engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degrees or technical training are assets
  • Professional Engineer or Certified Engineering Technologist (preferred); additional certifications (NFPA-CFPS, ARM, CRM, CPCU, etc.) are assets
  • Knowledge of Property Engineering, Fire Protection, HPR, and relevant industry standards and codes
  • Experience in Casualty loss control or related insurance industry roles is a plus
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and effective time management
  • Critical thinking, growth mindset, and valuing diverse perspectives
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage stakeholders professionally
  • Proficiency in French is an asset
