Property Risk Engineer/Consultant or Senior Property Risk Engineer/Consultant

Liberty Mutual Canada is seeking a Property Risk Engineer/Consultant or Senior Property Risk Engineer/Consultant to join our team. This role involves providing risk assessment and insurance risk engineering/loss control services in accordance with our technical standards for both First- and Third-Party lines. The position acts as a technical expert, offering recommendations and risk evaluations, and involves developing technical content for underwriting, risk services, claims, brokers, and client partners.

The successful candidate will maintain effective partnerships with Underwriting, Claims, and Risk Services/Risk Engineering teams, serve as a company representative at client and broker meetings, and act as a trainer and mentor to less experienced colleagues. This is an intermediate/senior role supporting business development, promoting high standards, and contributing to operational improvements.

Responsibilities include:
  • Promoting Liberty Mutual's Guidelines for Inclusion and active application within the organization.
  • Managing allocated and prospect accounts in Commercial and Packaged Property lines, including surveys and follow-ups.
  • Analyzing data to determine best risk management solutions.
  • Preparing and presenting reports with action plans for risk improvement.
  • Providing technical input on claims and conducting site visits.
  • Performing risk assessments and surveys for clients.
  • Enhancing brand awareness through speaking engagements and industry resources.
  • Staying updated on industry trends, regulations, and loss prevention techniques.
  • Establishing effective client partnerships and supporting underwriting decisions.
  • Collaborating on policy development and service tools.
  • Traveling within Canada and the US (25-50%).
Qualifications:
  • 7+ years (for Engineer/Consultant) or 10+ years (Senior Engineer/Consultant) in Property Risk Control or related fields.
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related area; advanced degrees or certifications are assets.
  • Professional Engineer or Certified Engineering Technologist preferred; additional certifications (NFPA, ARM, CRM, CPCU, etc.) are beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Property Engineering, Fire Protection, Industry Standards, and Codes.
  • Experience in Casualty loss control and insurance industry is a plus.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to manage stakeholders and adapt to change.
  • Proficiency in French is an asset.
