Powell River has a rich history, established as a company town in 1910 by the Powell River Company, which built one of the world’s largest pulp and paper mills. The town was designed with a focus on livability, including green spaces and residential areas. Today, Powell River Town Centre (PRTC) is a key retail destination covering over 35 acres with more than 300,000 square feet of retail space, hosting over 40 stores such as Winners, Canadian Tire, Walmart, and more. It also includes the Town Centre Hotel, TC’s Pub, and two residential buildings with 84 rental apartments.
We are seeking a strategic, results-driven General Manager to lead PRTC. Responsibilities include overseeing mall operations, tenant relations, financial management, leasing, and capital upgrades. The role involves maintaining a thriving retail environment, managing leasing efforts, fostering tenant relationships, driving marketing initiatives, and leading a professional team. You will ensure the facility is safe, clean, and well-maintained, and oversee capital upgrades and residential property management.
The ideal candidate has experience in retail or mall management, with strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities are essential. You should be proficient in budgeting, financial management, marketing strategies, property management software, and familiar with local laws. A customer service-oriented approach, ability to analyze business data, and proficiency in Microsoft Office are required. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is necessary.
We offer a competitive salary of $100,000 to $120,000, performance-based bonuses, extended health benefits, and four weeks of vacation. Relocation assistance is available for those moving to Powell River. This role provides autonomy and a chance to lead in a dynamic environment.
