Job description

The Edmonton Police Service is seeking a highly organized and competent property technician for our Exhibit Management Branch (Police Seized Vehicle Section). This is a full-time, temporary position with the following responsibilities :

  • Preparing unclaimed vehicles for disposal, including removal of unclaimed property and potentially facilitating the removal / confiscation of firearms.
  • Safely operating departmental vehicles such as a 1-ton cube van and load all telehandlers.
  • Providing customer service to police members, contractors, property and vehicle owners, finders, insurance agents, etc.
  • Using small power hand tools and load all equipment safely.
  • Managing court-relevant exhibits and property, including intake, categorization, location, protection, care, and disposition, following strict policies and procedures.
  • Completing any special assignments as required.

Qualifications :

  • Completion of a two-year post-secondary program in Law Enforcement, Criminology, or equivalent experience in law enforcement.
  • At least one year of experience in store operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows.
  • Firearms safety course or related training is an asset.
  • Ability to lift and transport heavy objects and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
  • Qualify for Community Peace Officer Status.
  • Ability to safely operate a 1-ton cube van, load all wheel loader, and other Class 5 vehicles.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven customer service skills, multitasking ability, and composure under pressure.
  • Applicants may be tested.
  • Willingness to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance and participate in future re-clearances.
  • Hours of Work : 20 hours per week, Monday - Friday, with possible variable hours.

    Salary Range : $29.91 - $37.54 hourly; $52,708 - $66,147 annually.
