About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Underwriter to expand our SME Book in Toronto. Your primary responsibility will be to develop new business and renew existing policies received by our Toronto team.

What You’ll Do

  • Underwrite new business presented by broker offices
  • Achieve monthly sales targets
  • Maintain and renew existing policies
  • Negotiate renewal terms
  • Ensure Customer Service Standards are consistently met
  • Monitor broker results semi-annually
  • Review underlying portfolio performance and make adjustments
  • Report directly to senior management

What You Bring

  • RIBO / CIP / FCIP designation or in progress (asset)
  • Knowledge of industry legislation, regulations, trends, and issues
  • Minimum 3 years of commercial property and casualty underwriting experience
  • Proven sales and marketing skills
  • Experience with financial management, insurance risk, reinsurance, claims underwriting
  • Proficiency in underwriting commercial property and casualty products, including coverage, pricing, and risk management

Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are essential. Must be organized, able to multitask, and work well under pressure. Ability to work independently and in teams, motivate others, and take initiative is crucial.
