Property Accountant (Single Family Property Management)

About the Opportunity

Zen Residential Ltd. is looking for a Property Accountant to support the financial operations of our growing single-family home portfolio. In this role, you'll play a key part in maintaining accurate records, preparing financial reports, supporting budgeting processes, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure financial accuracy and efficiency.

What You'll Do
  • Maintain accurate financial records for Zen's single-family property portfolio
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate payments
  • Support monthly and year-end close processes, including bank reconciliations and general ledger entries
  • Prepare financial reports and assist in budget preparation for property owners
  • Use Buildium software to manage property financials and maintain tenant/vendor data
  • Assist with system setup and updates within Buildium
  • Respond to tenant inquiries related to payments and account activity
  • Collaborate with vendors and property managers to resolve financial discrepancies
  • Prepare documentation for internal audits and support financial compliance
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information
  • Provide administrative support to the accounting team as needed
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to strengthen accounting expertise
What You Bring
  • 3+ years of accounting experience (property accounting preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience with Buildium or similar property management software is required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Clear communication and collaboration skills with a team-focused approach
  • High level of integrity and professionalism when handling financial data
