Position: Property Accountant Manager

Salary: $80K to $85K

A respected and well-established real estate company in Ottawa is seeking a Property Accountant Manager to lead their property accounting team and oversee day-to-day financial operations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and collaborative professional with strong leadership and technical accounting skills, preferably in the real estate sector.

Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee all aspects of property accounting including general ledger, month-end/year-end close, financial reporting, and variance analysis

- Lead the preparation of monthly internal reporting packages for a mixed residential and commercial portfolio

- Present and explain financial results clearly to senior leadership

- Work closely with operations teams to ensure data integrity and accuracy

- Support budgeting and forecasting processes for the portfolio

- Manage commercial lease administration, including CAM reconciliations

- Oversee cash management: rent collection, vendor payments, and bank reconciliations

- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team

- Liaise with external auditors and provide required documentation

- Recommend process improvements and contribute to Yardi system enhancements

Qualifications & Skills:

- University degree or college diploma in Accounting or related field

- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role

- Experience in property accounting strongly preferred

- CPA designation or in progress considered an asset

- Proficiency with Yardi software and strong Excel skills

- Strong communication and analytical skills

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities

- Proven ability to lead and support a team
