Job summary

Foresight Recruitment Group is partnered with a private real estate investment and property management firm in Toronto seeking a Property Accountant to own the portfolio's accounting and financial reporting.

You will manage full-cycle accounting, prepare monthly/quarterly statements, perform reconciliations, handle intercompany accounting, and collaborate with Property Managers to ensure accurate reporting and year-end processes.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong technical accounting fundamentals.
• Commercial property accounting experience and high-volume portfolio ownership.

Job description

We are currently partnered with a well-established, privately held real estate investment and property management company in Toronto on a confidential search for a Property Accountant.

This is a great opportunity for a Property Accountant looking to take genuine ownership of a commercial portfolio within a stable, close-knit organization.

THE ROLE:

You will be responsible for the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of commercial properties, working closely with the Property Management team and taking ownership of the financial reporting for your portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

• Full-cycle property accounting
• Monthly and quarterly financial reporting
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Accruals, prepaids and adjusting entries
• Intercompany accounting
• Investigating discrepancies and unusual transactions
• Accounts receivable and collections follow-up
• Preparing financial statements and supporting schedules
• Supporting budgets, forecasts, audits and year-end reporting
• Working closely with Property Managers to ensure accurate and timely reporting

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

We are looking for someone who:

• Has 3+ years of relevant accounting experience
• Has strong technical accounting fundamentals
• Has commercial property accounting experience
• Is comfortable managing a high-volume portfolio
• Enjoys investigating and solving discrepancies
• Takes ownership of their work and financial reporting
• Can communicate confidently with Property Managers and internal stakeholders
• CPA designation or progress toward CPA is an asset

THE OPPORTUNITY

• $80,000–$95,000 base salary + annual bonus
