Kipling manages all asset classes and, through Forest Hill Kipling, manages multi-family residential and condominium properties.

Job Description

Kipling is currently seeking a Property Accountant to handle a real estate portfolio based in Toronto.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and working papers.
  2. Monthly bank reconciliations.
  3. Preparation of annual budgets and reforecasting.
  4. Preparation of rental and recovery billings.
  5. Preparation of percentage rent billings with sales analysis.
  6. Cash analysis and distributions to owners.
  7. Tenant dispute resolution on recovery billings.
  8. Managing, analyzing, and auditing tenant accounts to ensure correct billing for rental and additional charges, investigating discrepancies.
  9. Researching and assessing vendor payments for proper coding prior to payment.
  10. Analyzing and preparing HST filings, including supporting schedules.
  11. Presenting monthly revenue and expense variance explanations in conjunction with property management.
  12. Analyzing and preparing tenant operating and real estate tax escalations for monthly payments and annual adjustments.
  13. Collaborating with various departments to gather information for financial statements.
  14. Analyzing and preparing depreciation and fixed asset schedules monthly.
  15. Monitoring and reporting on capital expenditure programs and landlord’s work and tenant improvements.
  16. Liaising with the Property Manager.
  17. Performing other duties as assigned.
Recommended Experience
  • Professional designation or enrollment (CPA, CA, CGA) is an asset.
  • 2+ years of experience in property management or commercial real estate.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Yardi is an asset.
