Job summary

Bertone Developments is a Montreal-based real estate company seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting for a diverse property portfolio. You will handle journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close while producing insightful financial statements and variance analyses.

In this role you will oversee tenant accounting, including rent rolls, CAM recoveries, and realty tax reconciliations, and interpret lease agreements for accurate billing and cost

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of property accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of commercial leases, CAM reconciliations, and tenant recoveries.
• Experience preparing financial statements and variance analyses.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial and residential properties, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including variance analysis and reporting insights.
• Oversee tenant accounting, including rent rolls, recoveries, and CAM and realty tax reconciliations.
• Interpret lease agreements to ensure accurate billing, escalations, and recoverable expenses.
• Manage intercompany transactions and ensure accurate cost allocation across entities.
• Partner with internal teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Liaise with external auditors and support year-end audit requirements.
• Contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of accounting systems, processes, and controls.
