Job summary

Primaris REIT is seeking a dedicated Property Accountant to join the team at Upper Canada Mall in Newmarket, ON. The role offers growth opportunities with potential title alignment to Senior Property Accountant based on experience.

You will provide accurate reporting for a retail real estate portfolio, lead month-end closes, budgeting and financial statements, and collaborate with auditors and internal teams to drive strong financial performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
• Earned or enrolled in a program to achieve a professional accounting designation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• ERP system experience an asset (Yardi Preferred).
• Bilingualism an asset (French/English).
• Excellent interpersonal skills; meet deadlines with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Monthly reporting, month-end closes, variance analysis and tax returns.
• Prepare quarter-end audit packages and liaise with auditors.
• Draft annual financial statements and cost statements.
• Prepare operating and capital budgets; assist with acquisitions integration.
• Other duties as assigned.

Candidates will be assessed based on their experience, expertise, and ability to perform the responsibilities of the role, with title and compensation aligned accordingly. Vacancy Status: New Role

As the Property Accountant, you will provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external clients and provide efficient and accurate accounting of a retail real estate portfolio owned by Primaris. Your communication skills and positive attitude will contribute to the success of our team. Your main organizational task will be to provide timely and accurate reporting and budgeting by:

• Monthly reporting, including month-end closes, actual to budget variance analysis, GST & QST returns, bank reconciliations, etc.
• Prepare quarter-end audit packages and liaise with auditors
• Draft annual financial statements and cost statements
• Prepare annual tenant operating cost, CAM recoveries and realty tax billings
• Prepare operating and capital budgets
• Assist with the integration of new property acquisitions as required
• Other duties as assigned

Compensation:

Your compensation is thoughtfully determined based on factors such as location, job level, relevant education or training, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, while ensuring internal equity and alignment with market data.

Expected Salary Range: CAD $75,000 - $85,000
