Job summary

The Dorian Autograph Collection Hotel & Courtyard by Marriott Calgary Downtown is seeking a Barista/Bartender to deliver exceptional beverage service in a fast-paced environment. You will greet guests, take orders, prepare drinks, handle payments, and maintain a clean bar while ensuring health and safety standards are met.

Ideal candidates bring barista/server/bartender experience, strong communication, reliability, and a collaborative attitude. ProServe certification is required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Barista, Server or Bartender in a coffee shop or bar environment.
• Strong work ethic with reliability, punctuality and approachable demeanor.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Able to work well under pressure, multitask and thrive in a fast-paced setting.
• Positive attitude, eagerness to learn and ability to work as part of a team.
• Knowledge of food handling, food safety, and basic math skills.
• Valid ProServe certification.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Physically able to stand, walk for long periods, and lift up to 25 lbs.

We are hiring a Barista/Bartender for Prologue!

OUR ROLE

The Barista/Bartender is responsible for serving beverages and/or items on the menu to guests in a professional, competent, and prompt manner, delivering exceptional service and creating memorable experiences for our guests while showcasing our drinks menu, making recommendations based on guests’ preferences, up-selling special items and taking orders.

Key accountabilities include:

• Greet guests as they enter, consistently delivering exceptional service.
• Give guests food and/or drink menus and answer their questions regarding ingredients.
• Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios, cocktail preferences, etc.).
• Prepare beverages following recipes and beverage standards.
• Work professionally with all guests and fellow associates.
• Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards), following all check handling and credit card policies and procedures.
• Keep the bar area clean.
• Maintain stock of clean mugs and plates.
• Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs.
• Comply with health and safety regulations.
• Communicate customer feedback to manager and recommend new menu items.
• Comply with established procedures in the standard beverage manual regarding the serving of alcohol and the identification of minors.
• Check and replace glassware where needed.
• Endeavor to work in a unified and collaborative way -- one that fosters teamwork.
• Follow all safety and security policies and procedures, report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions.

YOUR STORY

• Previous experience as a Barista, Server or Bartender in a coffee shop or bar environment.
• Someone with an outstanding work ethic, along with a track record of reliability, punctuality and an approachable demeanor, with a strong commitment to Safety.
• Someone with excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Able to work well under pressure, multitask and enjoys a fast-paced environment.
• Someone with a positive attitude, eagerness to learn and prefers to work as part of a team.
• Knowledge of food handling, food safety, and basic math skills.
• Valid ProServe certification.
