Teck is looking for an experienced Projects, Engineering and Shutdown Manager to join our team at our Trail Operations, one of the world's largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes. Reporting to the Manager, Asset Management is accountable for providing leadership and direction to deliver on planning and execution of capital and non-routine projects and shutdowns at Trail Operations and for coordinating the development of the 1-year, 5-year and 20-year plan for the capital project portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  1. Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  2. Responsible for leading the implementation of project and shutdown systems, planning, and execution of projects and shutdowns by setting objectives, monitoring performance and initiating actions to ensure objectives are achieved. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards throughout the project or shutdown lifecycle.
  3. Lead the development of detailed project and shutdown plans, including scope, schedule, budget, resource allocation, risk management and operational readiness. Advance projects through stage gating with suitable requirements. Oversee all activities and monitor project and shutdown progress and performance, identifying and addressing any issues or deviations from the plan.
  4. Coordinate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders and cross functional teams to ensure project and shutdown objectives are met.
  5. Establish and maintain relationships with engineering service providers and contractors. Ensure work and services are performed in accordance with established terms and conditions.
  6. Coordinate site wide input and engagement for the development of the annual project plan, 5-year project plan, 20-year project plan and any associated scenarios. Verify accuracy of regular plan updates. Provide regular updates to all levels of management to track the health of the project and shutdown portfolios.
  7. Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment. Ensure availability of adequate personnel levels and succession plans needed to meet objectives by assessing resource requirements for the team.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent combination of education and project management experience.
  2. Minimum of 12 years progressively senior level experience in a project or shutdown delivery environment, preferably in an industrial environment.
  3. Experience with the budgeting process.
  4. Excellent computer skills, particularly spreadsheet, word processing and presentation applications.
  5. Advanced analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  6. Excellent communication, organization, time-management, critical thinking and leadership skills.

Salary Range: $160,000 - $198,000
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
