Job summary

Kingston Midstream in Calgary, Alberta offers a 16-month co-op opportunity to support project development and execution engineers focused on capital enhancement and sustaining liquid pipelines and facilities. The role blends engineering analysis with project management tasks and field activities across western Canada.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an Engineering program at a qualified education institution.
• Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.
• Ability to work and communicate with internal and external stakeholders frequently, including office and field staff.

Responsibilities

• Support the project management team with assigned tasks such as research, scope development, design justifications, estimates, economics, and feasibility analyses.
• Prepare specifications and coordinate procurement with supply chain according to company standards.
• Develop and compile documents and procedures for safe execution of work; participate in field visits for inspections and commissioning.
• Maintain project schedules, cost control and earned value management; review QC packages for completeness and accuracy.
• Assist in developing and revising Project Management Templates; potential opportunities to lead small projects under supervision.

Job description

Job Overview:

This is an exciting 16-month co-op student opportunity to provide engineering and project management support to Kingston Midstream’s project development and project execution engineers who are responsible for the development and delivery of capital enhancement and sustaining liquid pipelines and facility projects.

Position Responsibilities

• Support the project management team with their work and complete assigned tasks which may include:

• Research and summarize applicable codes, standards, and regulations on an assigned item
• Prepare scopes, designs, justifications, estimates, economics, alternatives analysis, and documentation to evaluate project feasibility and to obtain approval and funding for projects
• Prepare specifications and work with supply chain management to procure materials and services in accordance with the Company’s standards, policies, and procedures
• Develop and compile documents and procedures needed for the safe execution of work
• Conduct field visits to support construction site inspections, scope projects, or assist with commissioning and start-up
• Maintain project schedules, cost control and earned value management
• Review quality control packages upon completion of construction for completeness and accuracy
• Assist in the development and revision of Project Management Templates

• Potential opportunities to lead projects under the direction of a project manager which may include:

• Plan and implement work in accordance with the Company's HSE policies, Company’s engineering and construction standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable legislation
• Coordinate the efforts of internal and external departments, consultants, and contractors, including those outside the incumbent’s engineering discipline, to ensure that the project scope, schedule, and budget meet company objectives

Office environment, with occasional travel to Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northern Alberta, where Kingston operations and infrastructure are located.
