Your work environment at EXP

EXP is currently looking for a Project Technologist to join our Building Science Team in the Brampton office. Reporting to the Manager – Façade Engineering, the successful applicant will provide appropriate technical services to Project Managers for those projects to which they have been assigned.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

1. Review of architectural drawings and shop drawings with focus on building envelope assemblies.
2. Attendance of preconstruction meetings, mock-up and standard of acceptance reviews.
3. Site visits to review and issue reports for installation of façade assemblies such as curtain wall systems, window wall systems, precast concrete, prefabricated and field installed EIFS etc. for general conformance.
4. Conduct hygrothermal and thermal modeling of building envelope assemblies to determine condensation potential, and support thermal bridging calculations.
5. Conduct thermal bridging calculations.
6. Complete documents in support of window wall and precast installation endorsements.
7. Assessment of as built and performance condition of building envelope assemblies in existing buildings.
8. Report writing that includes recommendations and opinion of probable costs.
9. Preparation of drawings and specification for the remedial measures.
10. Contract administration and site review of building envelope repair work.

What your experience looks like

1. Diploma/degree in a related field of study such as Building Science, Architectural Science, Architectural Technology or Civil Engineering.
2. Knowledge of building science principles, particularly control of heat, air and moisture.
3. Knowledge of new construction consulting services, building assessment, design, and construction.
4. Knowledge of building science computer tools including THERM, Autodesk CFD and WUFI Pro, would be an asset.
5. Proficient with AutoCAD.
6. 2 -5 years of relevant experience.
7. Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word and Excel).
8. Working Knowledge of Microsoft Projects would be an asset.
9. Knowledge of building Code and relevant standards.
10. A valid driver’s license with own vehicle and travel throughout GTA and Southern Ontario is required.
11. The successful candidate will require excellent organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, will be required to work closely with contractors.
12. WHMIS, Working from Heights and swing stage/elevated platform training are not mandatory (as training will be provided) but also considered to be an asset for this position.
