Job summary

Ventana Construction Corporation in Kelowna is seeking a Project Superintendent to oversee the construction process on site, ensuring schedule, safety, and quality. You will lead the project team and trade partners, report to the Director of Field Operations, and manage budgets and inspections.

Based in Kelowna, you will coordinate with stakeholders, enforce contracts, and drive project momentum to deliver high-quality results on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of construction supervision experience.
• General contractor experience preferred.
• Strong safety, cost control and quality administration.

Responsibilities

• Oversee site operations across multiple construction projects.
• Review docs, daily site reports, POs, and project photos.
• Enforce trade contracts and identify scope discrepancies.
• Manage expenditures, review invoices, and control costs.
• Coordinate municipal and provincial inspections.
• Develop site team through feedback, training, and coaching.
• Order materials, secure manpower, and maintain schedule.
• Prepare and maintain construction schedules; flag issues.
• Promote safety on site and monitor performance with Site HSE Coordinator.
• Ensure workmanship per Ventana quality standards.

Job description

Position Summary

As a Project Superintendent you will oversee the entire construction process on site. You will be responsible for creating and monitoring project momentum, scheduling, quality control, safety, and delegating work to the project team and trade partners. You are a dynamic leader who can manage people just as effectively as construction activities. You will report directly to the Director of Field Operations who oversees the performance of all our projects.

This role will be fully based in Kelowna.

As a Project Superintendent your key accountabilities will involve:

• Managing site operations across a variety of construction projects.
• Reviewing and maintaining documentation and drawings, completing daily site reports, POs, and project photos.
• Reviewing and enforcing trade partner contracts and identifying discrepancies in scopes of work.
• Monitoring expenditures effectively, reviewing invoices in detail, and managing labour and material costs according to the project budget and underlying estimate.
• Managing all required municipal and provincial inspections.
• Supervising and developing site team members through regular feedback, training, and coaching.
• Ordering materials and equipment and requesting sufficient manpower throughout the project to maintain schedule and productivity.
• Preparing and maintaining construction schedules and advising project team of potential problems, work interferences, and scheduling difficulties or deviations from the overall schedule, and assisting in resolving any conflicts.
• Promoting a safe and healthy work environment for all personnel on site, monitoring safety performance, and overseeing the Site HSE Coordinator.
• Adhering to Ventana’s quality standards, monitoring the performance of sub-contractors, and implementing techniques to ensure quality issues are addressed proactively.

As a Project Superintendent your experience and qualifications will include:

• Minimum of 10 years of construction supervision experience, preferably with a general contractor.
• Trade background with progressive experience in general contracting.
• Demonstrated competence in the areas of safety, people management, project execution, cost control, quality, and administration.
• Experience working on a project valued at $50 million plus.
