Job description

Title: Project Specialist

Duration: 2 month contract

Location: Remote, Canada

The role of the eLearning Technology Project Specialist within the eLearning Technology Team at WTS involves managing and supporting projects from proposal to completion, primarily focusing on eLearning technology at Western. Guided by the eLearning Technology Manager, the Project Specialist plays a key role in executing WTS-sponsored eLearning Technology Projects and Instructor-Sponsored Media Projects. Responsibilities include clear communication of project expectations, managing timelines, implementing best practices, facilitating team collaboration, and ensuring project completion.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Manage project procurement and evaluation of eLearning technology tools supporting campus-wide eLearning
  • Oversee digital media projects proposed by faculties, departments, or instructors to integrate technology into teaching
  • Assist in researching and recommending best practices and tools for project execution
  • Ensure projects adhere to best practices defined by the WTS Project Support Group
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with management and stakeholders
  • Communicate project expectations effectively to team members and stakeholders
  • Liaise with stakeholders regarding project status
  • Set and manage expectations for small projects
  • Plan, schedule, and track project milestones and deliverables
  • Prepare proposals, documentation, presentations, and status reports; analyze results and troubleshoot issues
  • Define and communicate project success criteria
  • Estimate resources and participants needed
  • Negotiate with department managers for personnel acquisition as needed
  • Support project development from start to finish
  • Develop comprehensive project plans and communication documents
  • Coach and motivate team members to ensure accountability and positive action
