Job description

Project Quality Assurance Lead - Transit / Rail

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

At Jacobs, Quality Assurance is crucial to the success of our projects and the strong relationships we have with our clients. As an experienced Project Quality Assurance Lead, you’ll work on specifying the quality requirements during the tendering phase followed by developing and implementing an effective project quality assurance plan during the development and implementation phase. The plans you develop will be used for identifying project KPIs, processes, procedures, audit schedules and other assurance measures, through which you will monitor the quality performance of all parties to enforce their contractual obligations with regards to quality. As part of a larger quality organization you’ll have the support, means and space to innovate for the project and influence continual improvement of the organization.

Based in Toronto, ON, you will use your communication and negotiation skills to guide, influence, and convince others. This will include interacting internally with the Project Delivery Team and corporate office departments; and externally with various contractual parties involved in the project, such as prime contractors and consultant advisors, hired by the Owner for successful delivery of the project, as well as other Third-Parties such as utility companies, municipalities, and agencies. You’ll own your career development as you work on some of the most complex infrastructure projects of our time.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitating a Quality Working Group to coordinate project parties
  • Planning, and conducting audits, including reporting and follow-up on nonconformances and opportunities for improvement
  • Facilitating Lessons Learned gathering, distribution and tracking of implementation actions
  • Leading or facilitating Root Cause Analysis for quality issue investigations
  • Validating project Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) that are identified by the contractor, the field QA Services consultant, or by the integrated project delivery team.
  • Monitoring NCR dispositions and facilitating quality assurance of technical decisions with respect to correction, corrective actions, and verification.
We value collaboration and believe that in-person interactions are crucial for both our culture and client delivery. We empower employees with our hybrid working policy, allowing them to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations enabling them to deliver their best work.

Here's what you'll need

  • At least 10 years’ experience working in the Quality Assurance field within heavy civil or industrial projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Civil Engineering) or equivalent certified technical training.
  • Good understanding of different type of contracts, including P3 and Non-P3, progressive (collaborative) contracts such as Alliance, as well as Transit Oriented Communities (TOC), and Construction at Risk.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • An understanding of local building and Engineering codes and standards.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Auditor, IRCA/IQA Registered Lead.
  • Professional Engineering registration is preferred.
