Job description

Hays Civil Construction team in Ontario has partnered with our client to hire an experienced Project Manager in Guelph.

Your new company

The company brings over 30 years of experience in Water and Wastewater Construction across Canada. Due to continued growth and a new design/build project, the team is excited to hire an experienced Project Manager.

Your new Role

As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for the overall health, safety, and success of the project. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  1. Creating a team to execute project goals effectively by understanding each member’s strengths and weaknesses.
  2. Ensuring team collaboration and efficiency.
  3. Consulting with the HSE officer to develop the project-specific safety site plan.
  4. Managing the project schedule, approach selection, and setting realistic timelines.
  5. Overseeing the RFI log, equipment control log, and maintenance manuals.
  6. Managing schedules, spare parts lists, and salvaged equipment lists.
  7. Handling owner communications, training plans, and sign-off documentation.
  8. Implementing a quality control program tailored to the project.
  9. Managing the project cost control program, including reviewing estimates, forecasting, and tracking expenses.
  10. Leading project close-out, substantial completion, total completion, and warranty processes.
  11. Proposing scope changes to address problems and increase profits.
  12. Monitoring work programs of team members, including coordinators and superintendents.
  13. Maintaining the CPM schedule and ensuring accuracy throughout the project.
  14. Fostering good relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, workers, and unions.
  15. Overseeing third-party efforts, such as consultants and contractors.

What you’ll need to succeed

You should have a construction-related degree or diploma and at least 10 years of construction experience, preferably in Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant projects. Proven project management experience, knowledge of safety regulations, scheduling, planning, cost control, and engineering drawings are essential. Additional assets include project management certification and experience with facility commissioning/automation. Strong negotiation, communication, financial management, and problem-solving skills are required.
