Job summary

Spirit Omega Inc. is seeking three Project Managers to lead the Transmission Program and guide the team through multiple high voltage transmission projects in Edmonton.

You will be responsible for delivering projects from inception to closeout, ensuring safety, schedule, and budget compliance. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering or an equivalent technical certification with 10+ years of experience, plus 5+ years in project management within a construction setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical certification/diploma with 10+ years of relevant experience.
• 5+ years project management experience in a construction environment.
• Experience with utility construction in energized substations and hazards/safe work practices.
• Understanding of project permitting, environmental assessments and stakeholder engagement.
• Experience with Alberta Electric System Operator project lifecycle is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage portfolio of projects from start to finish across varying sizes and complexities.
• Ensure safe execution and adherence to OH&S legislation and company policies.
• Maintain project budgets, forecasts, and change approvals.
• Maintain up-to-date project schedules and governance documentation.
• Coordinate with Engineering, project controls, and construction crews to ensure smooth delivery.
• Lead development of RFPs and contract formation for procurement of goods and services.

Job Location: Edmonton, AB

Contract Length: 1 year

Work Hours: 7:30am to 4:00pm daily (excluding weekends and statutory holidays) Overtime is not applicable.

Spirit Omega requires the services of threeProject Managersto manage the Transmission Program and manage the team in executing multiple high voltage transmission projects.

The Project Manager is accountable for all aspects of project delivery from project inception through to close out.

Responsibilities

• Manage portfolio of projects of varying degrees of size and complexity from project start to finish;
• Ensure the safe execution of all projects by supporting hazard identification and safe work planning at all phases of the project. Ensure conformance to all relevant Occupational, Health and Safety (OH&S*) legislation and company internal HSE policies and procedures;
• Manage project budgets accordingly to company Capital Investment Policy, maintain up-to-date project forecasts and complete internal change approvals in a timely manner;
• Maintain up-to-date project schedules and complete internal change approvals in a timely manner;
• Liaise with internal staff including Engineering, project controls, and construction crews to ensure the smooth flow of deliverables between groups in support of efficient project execution;
• Lead the development of requests for proposal and contract formation for the procurement of goods and services required;
• Maintain accurate project records, reporting, and governance documentation within company systems including Oracle Projects, IVARA Work Management, eScheduler, SharePoint, and ProjectWise;
• Participate in field activities such as project kick-offs, project walk-downs, and HSE inspections during construction; and
• Other duties that may be assigned consistent with the job description.

• Bachelor's degree in engineering; or a relevant technical certification or diploma with 10+ years of relevant experience;
• 5+ years project management experience in a construction environment;
• Experience with utility construction in energized substations and knowledgeable in hazards and appropriate safe work practices;
• Understanding and experience with project permitting, environmental assessments and stakeholder engagement;
• Thorough understanding and experience in foundation Project Management processes and procedures aligned with the Project Management Body of Knowledge;
• Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is highly desirable;
• Experience and knowledge around Alberta Electric System Operator project lifecycle is highly desirable; and
• Experience in , major equipment and construction services procurement including; Request for Proposal development, tendering, evaluating, contract negotiations and contract administration.

Certifications and Training

Mandatory required within 1 month of hire at your own expense:

• Construction Safety Training System (CSTS);
• Electrical Safety Training System;
• Contractor Management;
• Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Worker Education; and
• Hazard Management
