Job summary

IWK Health in Halifax is seeking a Project Manager for Redevelopment, responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering large-scale projects from $1M up to $162M. The role oversees design consultants and contractors, interfaces with clinicians, and ensures projects meet budget and milestone targets.

Ideal candidates have an undergraduate degree in relevant fields, 2+ years experience (5+ preferred) in project leadership, and PMP/CAPM certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Health Services Administration, Health Information Management, Business Administration or Engineering.
• Masters degree in a related field is an asset.
• Two years’ experience required; five years preferred in leading strategic and/or performance improvement projects.
• PMP or CAPM certification preferred.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
• Experience with AutoCAD and data management/analysis.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and manage redevelopment projects from the IWK Redevelopment department.
• Oversee design consultants and contractors and interface with clinicians to meet budgets and milestones.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope, while meeting project objectives.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Redevelopment, the Project Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, and project management of assigned projects within the IWK Redevelopment department, acting as Project Manager for projects ranging from $1 million up to $162 million (ED redevelopment), participating and supporting specification review, drawing review, and tender document coordination. This includes overseeing design consultants and contractors and interfacing with interested parties and clinicians to ensure projects are delivered within budget and to project milestone dates and, most importantly, meeting the objectives of the project.

Hours of Work

Monday-Friday, 0830-1630 (37.5 hours weekly)

Your Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Health Services Administration, Health Information Management, Business Administration or Engineering required. Masters degree in a related field an asset.


• Minimum two (2) years’ experience required; five (5) years preferred - leading strategic and/or performance improvement related projects required.


• An equivalent combination of undergraduate education and relevant experience may be considered.


• Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification (Issued by Project Management Institute) preferred.


• Comprehensive knowledge of project management methodologies


• Demonstrates excellent word processing, spreadsheet, relational database, visual management software, project management software and simulation modelling software skills


• Experience with drafting software applications, such as AutoCAD.


• Demonstrates a high level or decision making and problem-solving skills.


• Comprehensive knowledge of evaluation design and methodology.


• Experience and demonstrated expertise in data management, data analysis, and statistical manipulation.


• Knowledge of health care delivery systems in various hospital and community settings.


• Demonstrates excellent team building and management of group processes skills.


• Demonstrates excellent presentation communication skills (written and verbal) required.


• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills.


• Demonstrates a high level of initiative, patience, prioritization, and organizational ability skills.


• Competencies in other languages an asset.
