Senior Project Manager- Project Support Services

Apex Systems is a global IT services provider and our consulting practice has an opening for aSenior Project Managerwith end to end project management experience in the business effectiveness sector for a Top Five Bank.

Location:Hybrid Downtown Toronto, Ontario (2-3 days a week)

Term:9 month contract, Strong possibility of extension

Hours:37.5 hours/week Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm –

As a member of the Risk Management Governance and Business Effectiveness team, the Senior Project Manager will be a seasoned expert responsible for the delivery of highly complex projects from end to end including initiation, requirement gathering, design, construction, testing, implementation and closure. The role works with minimal direction on complex projects, providing expert level knowledge of project management principles, standards, and business consulting through considerable project delivery experience. The Senior Project Manager uses significant latitude to control projects, conduct status reviews, provide business guidance, identify any deviations to the project plan, and recommend corrective action to mitigate potential issues. The role analyzes situations and data to prepare and deliver executive level presentations to keep management informed of project status, changes, and milestone achievements.

How youll succeed:

Project management –

  • Outline project goals, terms of reference, resource requirements, and costs. Create a resource plan that ensures all stakeholders have a voice on the project.
  • Assess the efficiency of the practices and procedures used by a team, and provide guidance that will continuously improve the project plan.

People change management (PCM) –

  • Develop PCM strategies and executive PCM activities while adhering to the Delivery Framework methodology.
  • Help internal partners make informed decisions about the development of programs, products, and services. Coach and mentor your teams as you work toward a common goal.
  • Negotiate deliverables and milestones whenever necessary.

Project coordination –

  • Proactively identify risks to the project schedule and find ways to mitigate them.
  • Monitor milestones; ensure they’re completed according to timelines and budgets. Execute a project plan that strikes the right balance between budget, time, and risk.

Communication and persuasion –

  • Share ideas, build consensus, and write with impact.
  • Chair quarterly risk management meetings, which involves building the agenda, gathering material, managing logistics and communications, and supporting executive communication updates.

Relationship management –

  • Develop trusted working relationships with business stakeholders across Risk Management and with Technology partner

Responsibility:

  • You have 5 years’ experience in Project Management with a focus on medium-scale projects involving process and change management.
  • You can demonstrate a deep understanding of the practices, procedures, and principles required to successfully deliver large projects, from planning to implementation.
  • Ability to analyze detailed concepts, quickly resolve project issues, and assess the advantages and disadvantages of solutions.
  • You have an understanding of the Project Delivery methodology.
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project and Excel, MS Visio, MS Project and/or Adobe Acrobat.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage individual work packages and support broader change initiatives.
  • Experience in process mapping and optimizing workflows.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, standards, and delivery frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify deviations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Strong communication and persuasion skills, capable of building consensus and writing with impact.
  • Proven ability to develop trusted working relationships with various stakeholders.
  • A self-starter who can work with minimal direction on complex tasks.
  • You have a degree/diploma in a related field of study.
  • It’s an asset if you have the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
