Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead powerline construction initiatives in Western Canada. You will coordinate resources, develop strategies, and drive project execution from initiation to completion.

Responsibilities include estimating large-scale bids, managing schedules and budgets, and aligning stakeholders across multiple sites. This role requires travel to remote sites in Western Canada on a 14/7 rotation and strong leadership in safety and quality programs.

Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of related work experience managing powerline construction or similar projects.
  • 3+ years cumulative experience estimating powerline construction projects.
  • Previous experience as a Project Manager or in a similar leadership role.
  • Knowledge of construction documents, drawings, specifications, and standards.
  • Strong negotiation and budgeting abilities.

Job description

Responsibilities


  • Help estimate new and upcoming projects

  • Develop execution strategies for large and complex powerline construction projects by coordinating resources to meet operational objectives

  • Implement project plans and schedules

  • Ensure safety and quality control

  • Delegate work to the project team, subcontractors, and others

  • Demonstrate leadership in health, safety and environmental protection and apply the Project Specific Safety Program and Ledcor HS&E standards

  • Lead subcontractor and supplier selection, procurement, and negotiations for complex and design-build projects

  • Own pursuit estimates, review and verify direct and indirect costs, and manage bid package responsibilities

  • Perform quantity takeoffs for large, complex bids and oversee the quantity takeoff process

  • Develop and maintain construction schedules to meet milestones and completion dates

  • Facilitate project meetings with internal and external stakeholders

  • Track and report project financials, forecasts, and billings

  • Facilitate the Project Quality Program


Requirements


  • 10-15 years of related work experience managing powerline construction or similar utility / industrial construction projects

  • 3+ years cumulative experience estimating powerline construction projects

  • Previous experience as a Project Manager or in a similar direct managerial / supervisory role

  • Completed post-secondary education in Construction, Engineering or related discipline an asset

  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction documents, drawings, specifications, current construction practices and methodology

  • Strong negotiation/management skills

  • Strong understanding of construction costs and budgets, with ability to plan/manage to a project schedule

  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with multiple stakeholders, anticipate stakeholder needs, and proactively identify solutions

  • Track record of building successful teams and promoting teamwork through motivating, coaching, and consensus-building

  • Willingness/ability to work at remote sites throughout Western Canada on a typical 14 days on and 7 days off shift

  • Office-based when not on projects
