Job Description:

Reporting to the Facilities Planning, Redevelopment & Project Management Office, the successful candidate will work closely with hospital leadership, physicians, staff and community groups to oversee the project management lifecycle of key strategic, corporate and mandatory/legislated projects.

The Project Manager will be responsible for supporting and/or leading the planning and implementation of SHN’s key projects across the hospital network. The incumbent will work closely with internal stakeholders as well as managing external consultants, and project team. The Project Manager will oversee the development of business cases, comprehensive project charters, plans, including scope, schedule, budget and resource allocation. The Project Manager will be responsible for providing project status updates to Hospital leadership.

The successful candidate will have proven experience as a Project Manager in a health-care setting with outstanding written and oral communication skills, be an active listener, and have an ability to engage and manage multi-disciplinary stakeholders. The successful candidate will ideally be focused on professional growth and continuing education, and have a desire to effect positive change in healthcare facilities. The Project Manager must work collaboratively within a small team of Project Managers and/or Project Coordinators.

The incumbent is expected to contribute to creating a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff and others, working in compliance with the hospital code of conduct and the provisions of health and safety policies and legislation, utilizes protective equipment provided and identifies and reports hazards.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resources allocation.

  • Budget Management: Monitor project budgets, expenses, and financial forecasts to ensure projects are completed within budget constraints where applicable

  • Schedule Management: Develop and maintain project schedules, monitor progress, and adjust plans as necessary to ensure timely completion of projects.

  • Resource Allocation: Coordinate with internal teams, consultants and suppliers to allocate resources effectively and efficiently.

  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure project success.

  • Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and project teams, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns or issue that arise.

  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership, guidance and support to the project teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

  • Problem Solving: Proactively identify and resolve challenges and obstacles that may arise during the execution of the project, finding innovative solutions to keep projects on track.


Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Science, Health Informatics or equivalent

  • 5-7 years of experience in a healthcare setting

  • Ability to engage wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including medical leadership, frontline clinicians, support services, plant operations, etc.

  • Exceptional project management skills, including knowledge of project management best practices

  • Knowledge of Broader Public Sector procurement practices

  • Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation

  • Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community

  • Exceptional time management skills, must be able to work independently to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines

  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively

  • Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate needs of senior leaders

  • Demonstrated effectiveness at leading and working with teams, including supporting collaborative design of products with cross-functional groups

  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective and comprehensive reports and presentations for various audiences, including executives, administrators and clinicians


Technical Skills:

  • Computer skills with hands-on capabilities in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint


Asset:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent

  • Change Management Certification

  • Ability to speak another language
