Job Description

The Physician Learning Program in the Office of Continuing Medical Education at the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Project Manager. This full-time, fixed-term position is approximately 11 months (dependent on grant funding), with potential for extension.

PLP is a collaborative initiative between the University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and the University of Calgary Cumming School of Medicine, aimed at enhancing healthcare by providing physicians and teams with evidence-based data and tools for reflective practice.

The Project Manager will oversee project lifecycles, foster strategic partnerships, and support initiative dissemination, ensuring physicians access actionable data to improve clinical practices across various healthcare sectors.

Reporting to the Managing Director, key responsibilities include managing multiple healthcare quality improvement projects, engaging with stakeholders, supporting knowledge translation, and facilitating reflective practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage 2-5 concurrent healthcare QI projects from initiation to closure.
  • Collaborate with leadership and team members to develop and support projects.
  • Coordinate project planning, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and meetings.
  • Develop protocols, reports, and evaluation tools; prepare ethics submissions and stakeholder communications.
  • Monitor project timelines and outcomes, maintaining documentation.
  • Identify operational challenges and propose improvements.
Engagement & Collaboration
  • Engage with physicians and healthcare teams to co-create initiatives.
  • Promote awareness and utilization of PLP programs.
  • Facilitate feedback, focus groups, and knowledge translation activities.
  • Build strategic partnerships and support interdisciplinary collaboration.
Knowledge Translation
  • Develop research proposals, reports, conference materials, and scholarly outputs.
  • Contribute to evaluation strategies and represent PLP at events.
  • Disseminate knowledge via reports, presentations, and publications.
Data Management & Analysis
  • Lead data management and analysis processes.
  • Design reports, dashboards, and learning tools using analytics software.
  • Conduct literature reviews and research to support projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in health sciences required; Master’s preferred.
  • PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in health research or QI environments.
  • Experience with QI methodologies, program evaluation, and knowledge translation.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software (SPSS, SAS, NVivo) and MS Office.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently and collaboratively.
