Position: Project Manager, Ottawa, reporting to the Project Director

Responsibilities:
  1. Drive the execution of projects with low criticality, according to contractual requirements and customer expectations, to maximize results with respect to cash and margin while delivering on time, in conformity with Alstom project management and execution processes.
  2. Be accountable for project Quality Cost Delivery Planning (QCDP) and project Environment Health & Safety (EHS).
  3. Ensure Alstom legal and contractual rights are protected.
  4. Seek and propose additional opportunities to the Customer Director / Platform.
Key Duties:
  1. Be accountable for project QCDP performance and optimize project financial performance (Margin & Cash).
  2. Define project governance and strategy in line with contract requirements, including PMP elaboration and objectives allocation to Sub-Systems (planning, cost, quality, performance).
  3. Lead and coordinate project activities and stakeholders from transfer to close-out, including:
    • Proper transfer from tender to project.
    • Definition of project objectives and main drivers (product/service performance, planning) to achieve customer satisfaction within the contract framework.
    • Resource management: define project core team staffing, escalate when project resources do not match project needs.
    • Team leading, ensuring alignment of key project stakeholders towards project goals.
    • Engage project teams in achieving project objectives and strengthen relationships among them.
    • Synchronize internal partners and arbitrate when necessary.
    • Manage alignment with contractual requirements and variation orders, arbitration of Q,C,D,P re-baselining, and change management at project level.
    • Proactive risk, saving, and opportunity management.
    • Manage project progress and KPIs, reporting to senior management with transparency during business/critical project reviews.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable rules, instructions, and standards: Code of Ethics & Compliance, EHS, Railway Safety, Quality, Project Management Manual.
Customer and Stakeholder Management:
  1. Continuously ensure alignment with customer contractual requirements.
  2. Act as Alstom representative towards customers and external stakeholders (Consortium, JV, etc.).
  3. Manage contract and variation orders towards customers.
Performance Measurements:
  • Project Performance Indicator (PPI)
  • Cash Performance Indicator (CPI)
  • Gate review Go on time / OTD- GR
  • Customer Satisfaction
  • EHS when applicable
Experience Required:
  • 5 years experience as a sub-system/component manager, qualified project manager, or manager of an operational scope.
  • Experience working in and with multinational companies and in different business cultures.
  • Team management capacity to coordinate and ensure collaboration of multi-site/multi-functional teams.
  • Leadership, entrepreneurial mindset, and result-oriented.
  • Good knowledge of project management processes.
  • Knowledge of railway products and systems.
