Purpose:

We are looking for a Project Manager – Mining/Tailings to join our Edmonton office. The ideal candidate will have strong project management experience in the oil & gas sector (specifically oil sands mining projects), on behalf of an engineering firm.

Responsibilities:

· Planning & prioritizing project tasks to support the project schedule.

· Identifying and managing project and contractual risks and opportunities.

· Manage scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources, communication, risk, procurement, and stakeholders including global integrated delivery (GID) team.

· Reporting of cost, schedule, progress, and performance to senior management.

· Review and analyze alternatives and options to deliver value through the project scope.

· Leading, coaching, and directing multi-disciplined engineering & support teams in all phases of project execution.

· Developing relationships with customers and vendors.

· Maintaining comprehensive project documents and reports.

· Championing safety, well-being, sustainability, and management of change processes

· Limited travel to site or other locations as required.

Technical and Industry Experience:

· Extensive project management experience on high-value oil sands mining projects. Preference to candidates with significant work experience on tailings pond related work.

· Strong experience with management of third-party interfaces related to Civil, Geotechnical and Highway scopes.

· Comprehensive understanding of project execution, project management and project control methodologies.

· Full life cycle project management experience (FEED to Commissioning)

· Previous EPC work experience

· Previous oilsands project experience is strongly preferred.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Strong people skills supported by effective decision making and influential negotiation skills.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:

· A recognized and relevant engineering degree

· Project Management Professional (PMP) designation

· Extensive project management experience for oil & gas capital projects

· Substantial experience as a Project Manager on large mining/tailings projects on behalf of an engineering firm
