Job summary

Who are we looking for?

GHD has an outstanding opportunity for a Project Manager - Land Development in Ontario, with the option to work from our Mississauga, Whitby, Markham, Waterloo, or Ottawa offices in a hybrid arrangement.
As a Project Manager, you will lead the design of Land Development projects, and a team of engineering and technical professionals through all stages of land development projects. From concept to construction, you will coordinate with other GHD disciplines and external team members as required to achieve the project’s objectives.

Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Leading the design team to establish scope, budget, and schedule for land development projects.
  • Leading technical teams to complete conceptual, preliminary, and detailed engineering design documents to support site plan and subdivision applications.
  • Pursuing project’s financial targets and implementing quality assurance procedures.
  • Liaising with clients, project teams, third parties, and regulatory agencies to establish design objectives for submissions.
  • Providing technical support for tendering, contract administration, and construction inspection tasks.
  • Maintaining project governance standards and keeping clients informed of project status.
  • Engaging with clients, architects, planners, and industry leaders to generate awareness of GHD and its capabilities; pursuing business development opportunities as needed.
  • Managing project design records and files in accordance with GHD standards.
  • Coordinating staffing resources to meet project deadlines for multiple projects.
  • Liaising with municipalities, clients, and approval agencies for permits and approvals.
  • Performing quality assurance, quality control, and related duties as assigned.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Post-secondary civil engineering education (college/university).
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in land development project design and management.
  • Strong understanding of land development design and approval processes.
  • Analytical and report writing skills.
  • Experience with land development applications like rezoning, subdivision, or site plan.
  • Experience designing municipal services or stormwater management facilities in Ontario.
  • Knowledge of the Planning Act and development application processes in Ontario.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or CET designation, or relevant experience to pursue these.
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management skills.
  • Leadership qualities to mentor junior staff.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Challenge-driven and supportive of teamwork.
