Metrolinx Job Opportunity: Project Manager

Metrolinx connects communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe, operating GO Transit, UP Express, and the PRESTO fare system. Position Overview

Our Lakeshore West ESR team seeks a Project Manager for multiple projects from Union Station to Hamilton. The role involves technical expertise and project administration across planning, engineering, design, and construction phases.

What will I be doing?
  • Manage multiple projects from planning to closeout, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, quality, and risk management.
  • Coordinate contracts, property requests, purchase orders, change orders, and consultant addenda.
  • Oversee project scope, agreements with consultants, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Apply knowledge of procurement processes, including Design and Build, Joint Venture, and Construction Management at Risk, to identify improvements and manage budgets.
  • Identify design alternatives and value engineering opportunities.
  • Review costs and forecasts, monitor project timelines, and report using advanced project management software.
  • Ensure compliance of studies, reports, and design proposals with policies and standards.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including government agencies, utilities, and internal departments, on project issues.
  • Coordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure project progress, quality, and safety.
  • Estimate costs, review change orders, and monitor funding expenditures.
  • Identify risks and collaborate on corrective actions.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects, especially transit or railway infrastructure, is an asset.
  • Strong project management and supervisory skills.
  • Knowledge of contract law, construction standards, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management, cost control, and scheduling.
  • Relevant certifications like PMP, P.Eng, or OAA are assets.
  • Valid Ontario G Driver’s Licence.
