The Work

The Project Manager II, reporting to the Associate Director, Finance Portfolio Delivery, is responsible for initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing projects in adherence with corporate and departmental policies, including Enterprise Change Management and Project Management methodology. This includes managing scope, schedule, budget, resources, and other parameters throughout the project lifecycle.

This role manages finance-led projects of medium to high complexity, many of which will significantly impact enterprise planning, reporting, and controls. The initial focus will be on implementing a new Budgeting and Forecasting tool (FP&A transformation) with potential expansion to other initiatives in Accounting, Financial Reporting, and Finance Operations. Experience in the financial services industry, along with CPA and PMP certifications, is highly preferred.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple finance-led projects of varying risk, duration, and complexity through full project lifecycle
  • Lead cross-functional teams including FP&A, Accounting, Tech, and external vendors (e.g., Deloitte) to deliver critical initiatives
  • Partner with Finance leadership to navigate delivery risks, decision points, and steer teams toward business value
  • Support planning and delivery of financial systems, reporting automation, budgeting tools, and related projects
  • Create and maintain detailed project schedules, resource plans, and roadmaps with stakeholders
  • Manage financials with disciplined cost tracking and reporting
  • Facilitate workshops with FP&A stakeholders for requirements gathering, process mapping, user stories, and decision tracking
  • Maintain project plans, RAID logs, financials, and change management documentation
  • Report progress to senior stakeholders and ensure governance forums are maintained
  • Support the Finance PMO by applying project delivery standards and continuous improvement practices
  • Coordinate resources and testing plans, develop scripts, track defects, and provide updates
  • Manage vendor relationships and deliverables
  • Ensure compliance with ECM policy and PDLC standards
  • Prepare steering materials, track KPIs, and support post-implementation reviews
  • Assist in developing and coordinating organizational training, including train-the-trainer materials

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years’ experience managing projects through full lifecycle (PDLC / SDLC)
  • Experience in financial services or finance-related environments (e.g., budgeting, forecasting, accounting, financial systems)
  • Proven experience with Finance transformation or enterprise financial tool implementations
  • CPA and PMP certifications are strongly preferred
  • Post-secondary education in business, finance, accounting, or related fields
  • Experience as a Business Analyst, Change Analyst, or in Finance Operations is advantageous
  • Familiarity with budgeting and planning software (e.g., Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, Oracle)
  • Experience with Agile, Iterative, and Waterfall methodologies
  • Ability to manage projects with budgets of $500K–$2MM in multi-vendor environments
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills across teams
  • Proficiency with MS Office, SharePoint, Confluence, JIRA; understanding of data flows, testing, and risk management tools
  • Ability to work independently and lead through ambiguity with a solution-focused mindset
