Job description

FindTalent is supporting a leading utility in their search for a Project Manager II to join their team onsite in the Southeast. This role provides engineering project management expertise and technical direction for small to medium-scale electric substation, transmission, distribution, and communications projects. The position is responsible for ensuring safe, cost-effective, and high-quality execution of projects while managing all aspects of scope, schedule, cost, safety, and quality.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in utility projects, project management, and engineering principles, with the ability to manage client relationships, oversee project teams, and coordinate subcontractors. This role requires both technical knowledge and strong project management skills to successfully deliver utility infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

Manage projects in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Provide technical direction and project management for electric substation, transmission, distribution, and communications projects.

Manage client and project stakeholder relationships to ensure effective communication and trust.

Administer contracts, identify change orders, and manage subcontractors.

Implement change control and risk management processes.

Ensure compliance with EH&S and quality programs for the project.

Prepare thorough estimates, proposals, and project reporting.

Conduct effective project meetings including kickoffs, client alignment, and progress reviews.

Provide performance feedback to team members and management.

Maintain accurate project financial reporting and ensure project profitability.

Oversee timely issuance of invoices and manage project cash flow.

Key Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in the utility industry.

Strong knowledge of project management fundamentals (PMBOK).

Experience with project accounting, financial systems, and contract pricing mechanisms (Fixed Price, Time & Materials, Cost Plus, Unit).

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, and/or Primavera scheduling software.

Strong written and oral communication skills; able to prepare technical documents and presentations.

Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships in a matrix organization.

Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.

Additional Information:

Full-time onsite role in the Southeast.

Occasional travel may be required for project oversight or site visits.

Flexibility to work extended hours when project deadlines require.
