Qualifications

• Must have P.Eng
• 10+ years of relevant engineering experience in power utilities, heavy industrial, or Oil & Gas environments.
• Minimum 4+ years leading or coordinating multi-discipline design teams.
• Deep experience with protection relays, control and automation devices, RTU, SCADA, RAS, and teleprotection systems.
• Strong electric utility background with an understanding of transmission system operations and NERC requirements.
• Advanced written/verbal communication, conflict resolution, and familiarity with CAD standards and industry design/analysis software.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-discipline design teams on medium-to-high complexity utility projects.
• Resolve design and field engineering challenges across transmission, substation, protection, and telecom systems.
• Develop technical standards, establish design bases, and ensure alignment with utility and safety regulations.
• Work closely with clients and stakeholders to define project scopes, set design criteria, approve technical documentation, and monitor progress.
• Provide technical advice and guidance to build internal engineering capabilities and ensure high quality across deliverables.

An established utility leader in British Columbia is looking for a Senior Project Engineer /Lead specializing in Protection & Control (P&C) to lead complex, multi-disciplinary power transmission and substation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Technical Projects: Coordinate and guide multi-discipline design teams on medium-to-high complexity utility projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.
• Engineering Design & Analysis: Resolve complex design and field engineering challenges across transmission, substation, protection, and telecom systems.
• Standards & Compliance: Develop technical standards, establish design bases, and ensure strict alignment with utility and safety regulations.
• Stakeholder Management: Work closely with clients and key stakeholders to define project scopes, set design criteria, approve technical documentation, and monitor progress.
• Mentorship & Quality: Provide technical advice and guidance to build internal engineering capabilities and ensure high quality management across deliverables.
