We are seeking an experienced Project Manager for the General Contracting side of our business. This position is based in Edmonton and reports to the Construction Manager.

Duties/Responsibilities
Pre-Construction Management
- Develop and maintain the Master Project schedule with input from the Project Superintendent and subcontractors.
- Ensure contracts and subcontracts are issued according to the schedule. Maintain the buyout schedule.
- Provide initial cost code breakdown for management review.
- Lead financial start-up meetings to ensure understanding of cost codes.
- Set up projects, including administration, document control, and progress updates.
- Complete preconstruction planning activities including schedules, HS&E, quality, procurement, logistics, risk register, and Project Execution Plans.
- Develop labor and equipment forecasts with the Superintendent and Estimator.
- Support estimating during the cost planning and tender process.
- Ensure team members understand project objectives and specifications.
- Maintain detailed records and document control.
- Prepare scope of work and manage subcontractor agreements and permits.
Construction Management
- Implement quality management programs.
- Support site productivity with the Superintendent.
- Conduct subcontractor start-up meetings and internal project meetings.
- Review drawings, submissions, RFIs, and change orders for compliance.
- Ensure safety regulations and standards are met.
- Manage construction schedules, monitor progress, and hold regular meetings.
- Manage financial aspects including billing, payments, and subcontractor evaluations.
- Prepare reports and ensure all insurances and legal requirements are in place.
- Assess and manage project risks.
- Oversee project execution, including change management, testing, and close-out.
Post-Construction Management
- Manage deficiencies and warranty issues.
- Ensure project completion and client satisfaction.
- Conduct close-out meetings and follow-up on building performance.
Employee and Talent Management
- Lead recruitment and develop personnel through coaching and mentoring.
- Conduct performance reviews and succession planning.
- Promote a sense of urgency and commitment to goals.
Additional hours may be required. Strong communication skills and a proactive approach are essential.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience in Commercial and/or Institutional Construction
- Minimum 5 years of Project Management experience
- Proven success in managing various project types and using project management software
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Integrity and a commitment to excellence
