Qualifications

PROJECT MANAGER-ESTIMATOR JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary

Sasco Contractors Ltd. is an electrical contractor working on some amazing projects in the lower mainland, BC interior and on Vancouver Island since 1985.

Sasco has an exciting full-time opportunity for an experienced Project Manager-Estimator who is seeking a rewarding career within a high performing and supportive team.

As a key member of the Service & Special Projects team, the Project Manager-Estimator's primary responsibility is for ensuring projects are successfully delivered and executed for our customers predicated on our relationship-based focus.

The ideal candidate will have confidence in building relationships with key customers and suppliers, and strong experience in electrical and/or fire alarm project management using proven methods. Supporting the estimating team using Accubid and/or Bluebeam is also desired.

This position reports directly to the Division Manager, Service & Special Projects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Work shall include but not necessarily be bound by the following:

  1. Participate in both job kick-off meetings and job post-mortem meetings.
  2. Review and execute contract documents when applicable.
  3. Job file set up in conjunction with estimating, accounting and project coordinators.
  4. Project planning.
  5. Manpower planning in conjunction with general foreman.
  6. Mobilization of equipment/trailer/tools/job boxes in conjunction with Foreman.
  7. Purchasing and releasing quoted materials in conjunction with senior management.
  8. Overseeing preparation of approval drawings.
  9. Expediting quoted material, coordinating deliveries with vendors.
  10. Ensuring methods and manpower are being utilized efficiently.
  11. Coordination with sub-contractors.
  12. Identifying and estimating change requests and contemplated changes to the contract.
  13. Manage relationships with clients, consultants, and other stakeholders.
  14. Ensure submissions are on time and as per tender documents including contractual terms and conditions.
  15. Completing digital take-offs and Accubid data entry using Bluebeam and/or Live Count.
  16. Use of MS Excel spreadsheets.
  17. Liaising with suppliers and manufacturers for pricing on bill of materials.
  18. When necessary, working with management at job closing.
  19. Organizing job closings.
  20. Follow up with customers after closing of tender.
  21. Participating in post tender addendums, value-engineering, and negotiations when required.

Education and Experience Requirements

  1. Certification, degree or diploma in either electrical construction, construction management, engineering, or quantity surveying.
  2. Minimum of 2-4 years in a similar role.
  3. Excellent knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code with updates.
  4. Office 365 Products.
  5. Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  6. Master electrician FSR A, B or C, an asset.
  7. User of Trimble products (Accubid Pro, Change Order and Live Count), an asset.
  8. Expert user in Bluebeam, an asset.
