Reporting to the Director, Utilities & Sustainability, the Project Manager is responsible for leading, planning, and administering municipal energy and emission-savings programs in Fort Saskatchewan. The Project Manager will spearhead energy savings opportunities for the municipality through the creation of an Energy Management Plan and successful delivery of plan initiatives. This position will support the advancement of sustainability within Fort Saskatchewan by conducting energy audits, accessing grant funding for energy efficient upgrades, tracking reductions in greenhouse gases, and educating a variety of internal and external customers and stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have a post-secondary degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field with a technical focus on climate change and/or energy management. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Practitioner in Energy Management Systems (CP EnMS), or similar certifications are assets. An Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License is required. The incumbent will have a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, chemical, commercial, industrial, energy efficiency, project management (with an energy focus), facility engineering, or a related field. Knowledge in government processes and municipal working environments is considered an asset. This position calls for a high degree of computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and energy modeling software (e.g., RETScreen, GRITS, Energy Star Portfolio Manager). The ideal candidate will have an analytical mindset, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously using expertise in project management, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
A current five (5) year Driver’s Abstract will be required at the time of interview.
Rate of Pay: $46.36 per hour
Duration: Immediately – May 28, 2027
