Project Manager, Electrical Distribution

We are hiring a Project Manager, Electrical Distribution [Full-time Permanent] position working out of Edmonton, AB. This opportunity is open to internal and external candidates. Current EPCOR Employees, please ensure that you are using your “@epcor.com” email address.

The Project Manager, Electrical Distribution, reports to the Manager, Electrical Distribution Project, and is responsible for managing a portfolio of projects within Electrical Distribution, meeting growth demands, fulfilling EPCOR Distribution & Transmission Inc. (EDTI) and TELUS agreements, servicing new customers, and enhancing system reliability and safety. Responsibilities include managing project budgets, obtaining approvals from stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with governing bodies.

This position may be eligible to participate in EPCOR’s hybrid work program after 12 months, based on business needs and eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Contributing to the Distribution Projects Business Plan, ensuring alignment with EPCOR Utilities Inc. (EUI) and distribution strategy.
  • Developing and implementing an annual portfolio management plan, reviewing projects and budgets for workload balance and cost efficiency.
  • Managing funding and approval processes, preparing support materials for budgets and approvals up to FRC limits.
  • Creating comprehensive project charters with accurate budgets and scope definitions.
  • Overseeing end-to-end project management, from defining requirements to monitoring performance and costs, ensuring safety and environmental compliance.
  • Defining IFC target dates, coordinating construction meetings and design reviews for complex projects.
  • Evaluating and managing external contractors and consultants, ensuring compliance with procurement, legal, and safety standards.
  • Managing regulatory and permitting requirements with external agencies such as AUC, AESO, City of Edmonton, and others.
  • Conducting site inspections, documenting risks, and supporting investigations.
  • Supporting project execution to meet compliance and performance metrics, leading kickoff and planning meetings, maintaining communication, and documenting changes.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered with APEGA as P. Eng. or PL, or working towards certification within 6 months.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical distribution systems; less experienced candidates may be considered at a developmental level.
  • Knowledge of distribution system design and construction is an asset.
  • Strong budget and schedule management skills.
  • Excellent project management, leadership, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Ivara, MS Project, and other management tools.
