Contract for Project Coordination: Other Effective Area Based Conservation Measures (OECM)
The Long Point Biosphere Region is a 26,250-hectare Great Lakes coastal ecosystem designated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to combine biodiversity with community development. One of 738 biospheres in 134 countries, 19 in Canada, the LPBR undertakes key projects in Biodiversity Conservation, Sustainable Communities, Knowledge Sharing, and Climate Action.
Protecting key lands and associated biodiversity in Norfolk County is a core activity of our work through our Protected Areas (PA) and Other Effective Area Based Conservation Measures (OECM) projects. This work directly contributes to Canada’s commitments under the Convention on Biological Diversity to achieve the protection of 30% of the nation’s terrestrial area.
We are seeking an independent contractor to work with the LPBR Board of Directors, our current contractors, and partner organizations to deliver the following project coordination services:
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
Contract duration: Immediate to April 1, 2026.
Salary range: Currently under review, commensurate with skills and qualifications.
Project Location: This position is partially virtual. The contractor will be required to travel in Norfolk County for fieldwork and/or meetings.
The Long Point Biosphere Region is currently renewing our strategic plan, diversifying our revenue base, shifting from a working to governance board, and establishing a salaried staff model. This position will be of interest to candidates who are keen to be part of this transformation and may be interested in a future position if funding becomes available.
