Job summary

GE Renewable Energy Canada Inc. is seeking a Project Manager of Construction & Commissioning (PMCC) to lead field operations for projects in Canada.

You will manage scope, schedule and budget with project stakeholders, coordinating mobilization, site operations, procurement, and demobilization. The ideal candidate has strong hydroelectric experience, leadership and bilingual communication (English/French), and is willing to travel across Canada.

Qualifications

  • Strong and demonstrated EHS culture.
  • Attention to quality management and continuous improvement of quality culture.
  • Strong hydroelectric background.
  • College or bachelor’s degree in management or engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) is recommended, or relevant proven field experience.
  • Field management experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills written and verbal (English and French).
  • Leadership skills.
  • Availability to travel within Canada, 10+ years in project management organization in Construction or Commissioning or 3-5 years of direct experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in site work strategy definition with the Project Director, Construction Leader and Site Manager.
  • Proactively anticipate mobilization activities including tooling, safety equipment, warehousing, offices, accommodations, and trainings.
  • Prepare mobilization planning and ensure resource loading requirements are met.
  • Lead mobilization tollgate reviews representing C&C in project reviews.
  • Track site documentation and issue to customer (methods, quality plan, commissioning reports).
  • Build project financial and physical progress tracking structure for site works and update monthly.
  • Perform financial analysis: budgets, costs to date, slippages, forecasts.
  • Engage in risk mitigation and opportunity assessment.
  • Travel to sites ~25% of the time to review site operations.
  • Perform weekly site schedule updates for planned vs actual progress.
  • Coordinate communications across project teams to secure planning and execution.
  • Participate in customer and internal meetings.
  • Identify scope changes for site works and provide oversight on impacts.
  • Prepare RFQs and Purchase Requests for site works subcontracting.
  • Manage vendor packages at site (piping, painting, electrical, scaffolding, machining).
  • Prepare and lead site demobilization at project end.

Job Description Summary The Project Manager of Construction & Commissioning (PMCC) will be responsible for controlling and supporting the field operations activities with respect to scope, schedule, and budget with the support of the project stakeholders.

Job Description The Project Manager Construction and Commissioning (PMCC) is responsible for preparing and controlling the different phases of field operations for a project. This role is crucial to ensure that site works are completed safely, at the required quality standards, on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction sites management, strong leadership skills, and the ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Participate in site work Strategy definition with the Project Director, Construction Leader and Site Manager
  • Proactively anticipate the activities required for site mobilization, including tooling definition, safety equipment, warehousing requirements, offices infrastructures, worker’s accommodations, and define the required specific site trainings
  • Prepare the detailed mobilization planning using framework documentation and checklists, and ensuring that resources loading requirements are met as required
  • Lead the mobilization tollgate review representing C&C in all the project related reviews
  • Track the project site documentation for a timely issuance to the customer (methods, site quality plan, commissioning reports, etc.)
  • Build the project financial and physical progress tracking structure for site works and update monthly
  • Perform detailed financial analysis including, but limited to, establish budgets, report costs to date, slippages, claims, and forecasts
  • Proactively engage in risk mitigation and opportunity assessment
  • Travel to sites 25% of the time to review and engage with site operations
  • Perform the site schedule weekly updates for planned vs. actual progress in collaboration with the site manager and project planner
  • Coordinate communications across the project teams to secure project planning and execution
  • Participate in customer and internal meetings
  • Identify the scope management changes for site works and provide oversight to team stakeholders for quantity and quality impacts
  • Prepare the Request for Quotations and Purchase Requests for site works subcontracting
  • Manage specific vendor packages at site (piping, painting, electrical, scaffolding, machining, etc.)
  • Prepare and lead the site demobilization at the end of the project
Required Qualifications

Location: Canada

For candidates applying to a Canadian-based position, the pay range for this position is between $75,700.00 -and 125,700 CAD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
