About the Role:
Reporting to Director, Project Development, the incumbent supports the Business Development team by managing existing and potential utility-scale wind, solar, and storage development projects in North America, as well as assisting with the acquisition due diligence process from point of initial contact through to closing.
What you will do….
- Manage the development of project(s) at any stage of development from project from origination to mid and late-stage development including pre-construction planning, possibly taking the project(s) all the way through construction and turnover to operations.
- Manage progression of project tasks that may span site acquisition, permitting, interconnection, land control, energy offtake, contract development and construction; responsible for leading multidisciplinary meetings with internal and external resources and preparation of development plans which report on the progress of tasks.
- Accountable for maintaining and reporting on project schedule and budget. Communicate emerging schedule and/or budget risks and coordinate the development of solutions. Responsible for ensuring that project expenses receive the necessary approvals and are paid on a timely basis.
- External Relations - identify the need for, and coordinate, stakeholder events (e.g. open houses and other community engagement events); develop new and maintain existing relationships with public and private partners relevant to development and construction in the utility-scale wind, solar, and storage domains in Canada and the USA.
- Research - Support development and bid activities, through market intelligence, competitive landscape analysis, regulatory framework assessment, technology and pricing trends, suppliers, off-takers, utility resource planning, financing, etc.
- Technical - assist with the technical due diligence process and provide direction to the project or due diligence team supporting asset acquisitions or project financing.
- Financial Modeling – ability to understand and provide input/data such CAPEX and Spend Curves to Excel-based financial models for development opportunities. This literacy will allow for vetting of project economics with development and analytical teams, including but not limited to construction costs, production parameters, operations and maintenance costs, energy and revenue modeling.
- Contact Development and/or Execution – ability to create and develop working relationships with regional subject-matter contacts in Canada and the USA to advance the development of utility-scale renewable generation and storage projects.These subject-matter experts may be consultants, accountants, engineers or lawyers.
- Market Knowledge - possess and develop a considerable level of market knowledge for utility scale renewable generation project developments, including regional RPS standards, general permitting and regulatory processes, interconnection (Canadian markets plus knowledge of ERCOT, SPP, MISO, PJM and CAISO) and transmission, resource analysis, regional construction costs and development risk.
- Resource Management - Manage internal resources (engineering, technical and regulatory) and 3rd party service providers, related to various project development functions, budget and schedule compliance.
- Cost Management - Monitor project development costs related to projects to ensure compliance with project budgets with ability to prepare cash flows projections and future budgets as needed as well as variance reporting.
- Data Quality - Assess the adequacy, engineering and financial quality of the data being used in the project development cycle for the purpose of risk identification and analysis as well as recommending additional resources to address deficiencies. Assess the completeness, adequacy and relevance of deliverables prepared by external parties.
- Risk Management - Working with the project team identify project risks and develop mitigation and contingency measures to manage project risks. Lead regular risk review meetings during the project.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or relevant field
- Minimum of 5 years of project management or coordination experience
- Knowledge of and/or formal education related to renewable power sector, ideally with 3 - 5 years of direct experience in the renewable generation and/or storage sector
- Have strong leadership skills and can lead internal and external teams through all project stages.
- Provide clear direction to teams and foster strong working relationships.
- Maintain continuous communication with host landowners, subcontractors, consultants, authorities to address issues, resolve deficiencies, and ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
- Track project status, costs and forecasts monthly; maintains accurate accounting and project documentation with high attention to details.
- Regularly attend site visits, champions a culture of safety and quality across all project phases.
