Job summary

Salas O'Brien is seeking a Project Manager – Building Science in Ottawa to oversee the management of building envelope and restoration projects from initiation to completion. The ideal candidate will provide engineering expertise, conduct condition surveys, and manage project associates.

Qualifications

Project Manager – Building Science

The Project Manager – Building Science serves to manage building envelope and restoration projects from initial stage to the completion of the project, including the investigation/rehabilitation of curtain wall, roof, window, sealant, parking lot, concrete and masonry.

In This Role, You Will

• Provide engineering expertise to prepare design drawings and specifications for the repair and rehabilitation of building envelope components and deteriorated structures.
• Conduct condition survey assessments through the testing and evaluation of building envelope and concrete systems for residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
• Manage junior staff and project associate in conducting condition assessments.
• Prioritize and deliver multiple small/medium projects, from beginning to end, independently.
• Drive business development activities in the Eastern Ontario, Gatineau and Montréal areas, including scheduling, budgeting, tendering, contract administration, business development, and preparation of proposals.
• Use initiative and judgment to resolve problems, interpret engineering specifications, and investigate design and field engineering difficulties.

• You have a bachelor’s degree in Applied Science or Engineering from an accredited University.
• You have a minimum of 3 years prior experience in building science in a consulting or contracting environment.
• You have a P.Eng. license and driving license.
• You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic team-oriented environment.
• You have working knowledge of Ontario building codes and standards.
• You have experience assessing and repairing some of the following elements: Curtain walls, windows and sealant, roof waterproofing, concrete, steel and masonry.
• French oral and writing communication capabilities will be considered an asset but are not mandatory.

Compensation

$80,000 to $95,000 CAD depending on experience
